happy birthday, Wes Anderson - there’s no one else like him. Not only has he directed five of the best and most entertaining films of the last twenty years - Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Moonrise Kingdom - but he is also an undeniable style icon. I can’t wait to see Bottle Rocket, The Darjeeling Limited, his short films and the upcoming release The Grand Budapest Hotel. Happy 44th, Wes!
An art student in the UK did this piece for her final. A wedding dress completely made out of divorce papers.
Will Ferrell and his Comedic Genius Popcorn Award at last night’s MTV Movie Awards.
IMDb trivia for writer-director David DeFalco: “Known for wearing spikes, white contacts, and spandex shorts at all times in public.”
Bonus: Slant magazine review for his film Chaos: “DeFalco directs the whole thing with all the finesse of someone whose been hit on the head one too many times.”
happy birthday, Jude Law - he’s been great in many very different kinds of TV shows/movies/roles: a 1991 episode of “The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes,” I Heart Huckabees, The Aviator, as the narrator of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, Sherlock Holmes, Contagion, Hugo and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. Despite his sometimes confusing hairline and fashion choices (see exhibits A and B), I like him. Happy 40th, Jude!
Ian McKellen: most adorably fashion forward senior on the interwebs.
that’s me, ever the fashion plate (1994?) - mom holding my hand as I model the latest look on my grandma’s kitchen table.
I still can’t figure out what John Hurt was wearing in that scene, nor the purpose of the outfit. It looked like a backwards corset with a cape.
happy birthday, Ryan Gosling - I still haven’t seen anything but the disappointing drama The Ides of March, but I hold out hope for the other stuff once I see it. Happy 32nd, Ryan!
